Assoc. Prof. Bohdan Konôpka, MSc., PhD., is a senior researcher at the Forest Research Institute of the National Forest Centre in Zvolen, Slovakia. His research focuses on forest ecology, forest management, tree physiology, forest health, and the impacts of environmental change on forest ecosystems. Throughout his career, he has completed research stays at leading institutions in Sweden, Finland, Japan, Belgium, France, and the United States, establishing extensive international scientific collaborations.

Between 2009 and 2021, he headed the Department of Forest Protection and Game Management at the National Forest Centre. Since 2013, he has served as Associate Professor of Forest Management at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Central European Forestry Journal and serves on several national and international scientific and editorial boards.

Assoc. Prof. Bohdan Konôpka has authored or co-authored more than 470 scientific and professional publications, including over 60 papers in impact-factor journals and 26 books. His works have received more than 3,700 citations according to Google Scholar, and has an H-index of 29. In 2021 and 2025, he was ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited forestry scientists in the Elsevier/Scopus ranking based on annual citation impact. Furthermore, in 2025, he was also ranked among the world’s top 2% most influential forestry scientists in the same ranking but based on career-long citation impact.
