Michal is a scientific researcher under the age of 35 who has been professionally engaged in the field of forest protection since 2015, with a particular focus on biological methods of pest control and forest entomology. He completed his doctoral studies at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Department of Forest Protection and Entomology (2015–2021). Since 2017, he has been employed at the National Forestry Center – Forestry Research Institute Zvolen, working within the Forest Protection Service in Banská Štiavnica.
His research specialization includes the application of entomopathogenic fungi in biological forest protection, insect rearing, invasive species, and insect pests of forest tree seedlings. He is the principal investigator of an APVV research project and co-investigator of several others. Since 2024, he has been the holder of a European patent for a carrier of biologically active organisms. As the main investigator and experiment leader, he is responsible for experiment design, preparation, carrier infection, evaluation of results, as well as scientific writing and dissemination of findings.
For his work, he has received two major awards from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic: the Science and Technology Award 2022 in the category “Science and Technology Team of the Year,” and the Technology Transfer Award in Slovakia 2021 in the category “Innovator.”
