Milan Zúbrik is a member of the project team and responsible for Deliverable D5.9 – WoodPests web platform including mapping, identification and advisory services. Within the project, he coordinates the development and content of the web platform, which provides mapping, identification, and advisory services related to forest pests. He ensures the integration of expert knowledge with practical tools for users and oversees both the technical and professional quality of the final solution.
Milan Zúbrik is a Slovak expert in forest entomology and forest protection with more than 35 years of research experience. Since 1989, he has been working at the National Forest Centre, focusing on the population dynamics of forest pests, invasive species, their natural enemies, and integrated forest protection. He has extensive experience in pest identification, developing measures for their control, and solving practical problems in forest protection.
From 2006 to 2013, he served as Director of the National Forest Centre – Forest Research Institute in Zvolen, managing the organization’s activities and representing it both nationally and internationally. Since 2013, he has been working as a Senior Researcher, coordinating research projects and providing advisory services within the Forest Protection Service.
He graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at the Technical University in Zvolen (MSc in Forestry) and completed his PhD in Plant Protection with a focus on biological control methods. He is the author or co-author of more than 500 scientific and professional publications, including significant international monographs and articles in prestigious journals. His experience includes leading scientific teams, conducting laboratory and field research, managing web domains, and engaging in scientific communication.
Since January 2024, Milan has been part of the LignoSilva Centre of Excellence team.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, taking care of his garden, and pursuing his hobby as an amateur insect collector.
