Radovan is a researcher active in the field of non-destructive evaluation of the properties of wood and wood-based materials. He is a member of the research team at the Centre of Excellence for the Forestry and Wood Processing Complex LignoSilva, where he actively participates in research tasks focused on wood quality, safety, and efficient processing.
He specializes in the assessment of wood and sawn timber quality, with an emphasis on both technical and aesthetic properties, which are particularly important in the furniture industry and the production of visually exposed architectural elements. He has proven experience in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes in the wood industry, as well as in the practical application of acquired knowledge, especially in the field of certification of wood and wood-based products. His research also includes advanced wood scanning technologies, including the processing and analysis of data from 2D and 3D CT (computed tomography) systems. He is developing innovative approaches to the use of 3D CT technology for detecting internal defects, scanning sawn timber, and monitoring the quality of wood processing, with the aim of optimizing raw material yield and increasing production efficiency. A significant part of his professional focus is also on fire safety, particularly in relation to timber buildings. He concentrates on designing suitable structural solutions made from natural materials and wood-based products, which meet fire resistance and safety requirements while also ensuring environmental sustainability.
He is actively involved in evaluating the fire performance of wood materials and developing systems that enhance their protective properties. His expertise has a strong overlap with practical applications and the wood market, contributing to the sustainable development of the forestry and wood-processing sector, as well as to increasing the overall competitiveness of the industry.
