Roman is a member of the project team and responsible for Deliverable D5.9 – WoodPests web platform, including mapping, identification, and advisory services. Within the project, he coordinates the development and content of the web platform, which provides mapping, identification, and advisory services related to forest pests. He ensures the integration of expert knowledge with practical tools for users and oversees both the technical and professional quality of the final solution.
He studied at the University of Forestry and Wood Sciences in Zvolen, completing his degree in 1989. In 2006, he earned his PhD at the Technical University in Zvolen, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Forest Protection and Wildlife Management. His dissertation focused on The Use of Biological Methods for the Protection of Oak Forests Affected by Tracheomycotic Diseases.
Roman Leontovyč is a Slovak expert in phytopathology and forest protection with more than 35 years of research experience. Since 1989, he has been working at the National Forest Centre. He has extensive expertise in forest phytopathology, pest identification, the development of control measures, and solving practical problems in forest protection. He has been working as a Senior Researcher, participating in research projects and providing advisory services within the Forest Protection Service.

Since January 2024, Roman has been part of the LignoSilva Centre of Excellence team.
In his free time, he enjoys woodworking, gardening, and fishing.
