Tomáš Gergeľ is a scientific researcher under 35 years of age. He is Head of the Centre of Excellence for Forest-based industry (LignoSilva) in National Forest Centre.
Tomáš is holder of scientific qualification level IIa. In his research work, he deals with non-destructive methods for assessing the quality of materials, assessing environmental factors of the living and working environment, production processes in the wood sector and prototype design. He has published on these research issues at the international and national level. He is the author and co-author of 20 publications published in Current Contents Connect journals (CC), the author and co-author of 30 original scientific papers published in journals outside the CC and author of two scientific books. In 2025, he achieved a Hirsch index of 11.
He is a member of the organizing committee of the international conference Material – Acoustics – Space and the professional conference LignoSilva. He is the author of a program for calculating the coefficient of airborne and impact soundproofing of partition structures (NSKcalculator). He is a co-holder of one design registration certificate.
Since 2020, he has been working at the national level as a member of the SK Roadmap research infrastructure working group, where he participates in the preparation of the strategy for building and participating in priority European (ESFRI) infrastructures for research infrastructures in the Slovak Republic. He is currently the principal investigator of three scientific research projects.
